As a prominent designer and art director in Los Angeles,
Ernie Stedman regularly challenged the commercial art world with his innovative
and experimental representations of American advertising. Stedman has also
participated in many exhibitions, some of which include the Shidoni Gallery in
Tesuque, New Mexico, Affaire in the Garden in Beverly Hills, California, both
the New York Art Directors Show and the Los Angeles Art Directors Show, the
Hanson/Howard Gallery in Ashland, Oregon, the Limner Gallery in New York, New
York and Sculpture in the Park in Loveland, Colorado. Now a sculptor living in Oregon, his skilled handling of basic materials still stretch the boundaries of art’s conventions. He has pursued a varied choice of elements and processes in his work: paper and cast bronze masks, wood sculpture, and kinetic sculpture.
