Within the vast landscape of the Rocky Mountain west, I find smaller natural wonders. The one that inspires me the most is the gnarly juniper tree. The idea for each piece of my art is born from the shapes of the branches of this tree.

I choose the branches for form and structure, process them to reveal their inner beauty, then fit them together, maintaining the integrity of the original natural form.

Then, I will usually add wood / glass to create a piece of functional art. The finale is a unique balance between geometric and natural forms.

When I work on my art, I connect to the free flowing rhythms of the natural world. I carefully study each piece of juniper in it's raw form, then let this form lead the design process. My sculpting is done by carefully following the free flowing twists and turns of the juniper branches. This close and focused attention on these natural forms moves me to create.

In the Rocky Mountain west we find the beauty of the natural form all around us. many of us take pleasure in having this close at hand. With my art, my intent is to bring this beauty into people's homes where it can be enjoyed.
